Tender shortlisted for Penrith Stadium redevelopment

The NSW Government is reported to have shortlisted three building companies - A W Edwards Pty Ltd, Hansen Yuncken and John Holland - that will be considered to deliver the $309 million Penrith Stadium redevelopment.

As reported by the Western Weekender, the winning candidate will design and develop the venue, currently known as the BlueBet Stadium and associated entertainment precinct

As reported by the Weekender, NSW Deputy Premier, Prue Car stated “I am pleased to see another milestone reached for Penrith Stadium and look forward to seeing the feedback from locals bring this project to life.

“Not only does this upgrade promise a better stadium experience, it will also create more opportunities for concerts and events for western Sydney residents.”

The NSW Government said that the new 25,000 capacity venue will transform the site into a modern venue for sport and entertainment. It will include a new western grandstand, while the eastern grandstand will undergo a significant upgrade.

The development will see the grandstands reconfigured to be steeper in order to maximise seating with better views between try lines, and more food and beverage outlets will also be made available to reduce wait times on game days.

Other upgrades will include new scoreboards, lighting and sound systems, while four new changing rooms will be fitted to help grow female representation.

The successful contractor is due to begin the main works in early 2025 before the project’s expected completion in 2026.

Infrastructure NSW has enlisted architecture firm Populous and landscape architect Tyrell Studio to work with the successful contractor.

Once completed, the new stadium will be operated by Venues NSW, which already runs several venues across the state, including Accor Stadium, the Sydney Cricket Ground, Allianz Stadium, McDonald Jones Stadium, WIN Stadium and CommBank Stadium.
