Community information sessions to introduce Penrith Stadium redevelopment
To support the planning process for the project, Infrastructure NSW is to hold online community information sessions to inform on the design of Penrith Stadium.
Being held today (Tuesday 23rd April) from 6pm to 7pm and on Wednesday 24th April from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, the project team, architects and landscape designers will be available at these sessions to provide further information, answer questions from the community.
In January, the NSW Government unveiled its draft plans for its proposed $309 million redevelopment of the Penrith Stadium that will include a new western grandstand with steeper seating and a significantly redeveloped eastern grandstand.
Set to increase ground capacity at the venue to 25,000, the plan replaced a proposal by the previous NSW administration for an all-new venue on a site next to the current BlueBet Stadium, for which costs had increased to more than $900 million.
Retaining the hills at either end of the field, the upgrade has been designed to improve the gameday experience for fans and players, transforming the precinct into a modern venue for sporting and entertainment.
A statement on the information sessions from Infrastructure NSW advised “the community has been actively involved in telling us what they want for the future of the stadium. More than 3,000 people provided feedback in a six-week consultation process in 2022 about their views on the Penrith Stadium redevelopment.
To facilitate the redevelopment, the venue is expected to close after the 2024 NRL season, and re-open in 2026 although construction timeframes are subject to planning and procurement processes.
Once completed the stadium will be operated by Venues NSW.
