TEAM Sports to showcase project successes at NSSCE
Leading sports surfaces supplier TEAM Sports has shared details of its recent projects, in advance of its Platinum Sponsorship of the upcoming National Synthetic Surfaces Conference & Expo (NSSCE).
TEAM Sports’ most recently completed project has been at the Lily Homes Stadium in Western Sydney, where the company installed a ‘Hybrid 60’ system incorporating a shock pad and drainage cell.
The stadium is the home of IGA National Premier Leagues NSW 1 Mens side Blacktown City Demons and the field has been designed to meet FIFA 1 Star requirements while also being configured with subtle line marking to accommodate eight futsal pitches within the full field.
The design is unique in that it has curtain netting to dissect each futsal pitch which can be pulled out and retracted as required for various combinations of two x half fields, four x futsal and a half field, or eight x futsal.
The owner proposes is using the full field for Premier League matches on weekends while being used for individual training, coaching and competition futsal pitches on weekdays.
The flexibility of the design allows the owner to maximise the potential revenue generating streams from field hire, futsal hire, coaching clinics, small sided competitions and a wet weather training venue for local football teams.
TEAM Sports are also currently undertaking projects at Blackman Park in the Sydney suburb of Lane Cove and at Carlisle Field in Melbourne.
At Blackman Park, TEAM Sports are installing 19,500 metres2 of synthetic turf comprising two dual football/rugby fields with AFL line markings that required to meet the requirements of FIFA 1 Star, IRB Regulation 22 and AFL/Cricket Australia requirements.
Blackman Park was previously the location of a landfill site which was later converted to a recreational park and is subject to ongoing settlement due to the underlying uncontrolled fill.
TEAM Sports’ engineering solution is to install a synthetic playing surface over a concrete support slab with piled footings varying between 10 metres and up to 25 metres deep.
TEAM Sports have also designed and constructed a subsurface drainage system above the concrete slab for collection and disposal of stormwater from the playing field. The drainage solution proposed is a ‘Patent Pending’ vertical drainage system comprising a 30 mm drainage cell, shock pad and 60 mm synthetic grass surface allowing water to flow laterally beneath the surface to perimeter stormwater pits.
The project is currently under construction for the Lane Cove Council with installation of the surfacing planned to be completed in July 2014.
At Carlisle Field, TEAM Sports are installing 20,000 metre2 of synthetic turf for Casey City Council comprising full sized AFL field using ‘Hybrid 50’. This project is a dedicated AFL and Cricket Oval designed to meet the performance standards of the AFL/CA Licencing program
Carlisle Park will be only the second full sized AFL/CA synthetic football field installed in Australia. The first was designed and constructed by TEAM Sports in 2011 at the Saltwater Reserve Sporting Precinct for Wyndham City Council.
TEAM Sports were the successful contractor to supply and install their Hybrid 50 surface. The surface system also comprises the integrated 30mm drainage cell and shock pad to facilitate vertical drainage through the integrated system allowing water to flow laterally beneath the surface.
The civil construction works for the project have commenced and the installation of the surface is programmed for completion in December 2014.
