Table Top Mountain Walk access reopens following landslip remediation works

Toowoomba Regional Council has reopened access to the Table Top Mountain Walk and ancillary access walks on Toowoomba’s eastern escarpment to the public following the completion of landslip remediation works along Table Top Drive.

TRC Construction and Maintenance (Infrastructure Services) portfolio spokesperson, Cr Carol Taylor, said the remediation works along Table Top Drive were part of the 2022 Flood Recovery Program.

Taylor advised “Works were completed at two landslip sites on Table Top Drive. The largest of the two sites, pictured, included reshaping the adjacent bank on the high side of the road, anchoring the slip below the road, and securing the area with shotcrete to protect against future erosion or slips.

“The construction team worked with specialised excavation machinery to assist in minimising impacts around the landslip site.

“These completed landslip remediation works are part of the 2022 Flood Recovery Program, which has resulted in the correction of various landslip locations at Flagstone Creek Road, Middle Ridge; Alderley Street, Rangeville (both in Toowoomba); and the Cooby Dam Access Road.

“We sincerely thank the community, especially our avid walkers, for their patience while we completed these works, and we encourage residents to again explore all the wonderful walks our Region has to offer.

“In addition to reopening the access to Table Top Mountain Walk, residents can now also access Road Reserve Trail and Stevenson Street Trail.

“The popular walks were closed as a precaution during the remediation works along Table Top Drive as the road closure prevented timely emergency services access to the Table Top Mountain car park, and its surrounding trails.”

Funding for the projects was provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
