Sydney venues win in multiple categories at world Stadium Business Awards

Sydney venues the ANZ Stadium and the Sydney Cricket Ground have won in multiple categories at the international Stadium Business Awards held in Barcelona, Spain overnight.

Presented in front of an audience of senior industry figures in a glittering ceremony at Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium (the home of Barcelona) FC, the Sydney venues won in three of the Award's 16 categories.

Monster Jam, presented by Feld Entertainment, at ANZ Stadium was the winner of the Guest Event of the Year Award.

Held in October last year, the second Sydney Monster Jam attracted more than 50,000 Monster Jam fans travelling from all over Australia to see their favourite trucks.

In Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, the Major League Baseball (MLB) Opening Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in March last year was named Sports Event of the Year.

‘MLB at the SCG’ was attended by over 100,000 people over its four-days and attracted a global viewing audience of over 140 million people. The event was acclaimed last year as Australia’s top event at the 2014 Australian Event Awards.

The SCG’s new MA Noble, Don Bradman, Dally Messenger Stands was also named Project of the Year.

Now in their sixth year, The Stadium Business Awards (often written as the TheStadiumBusiness Awards) are the only awards to recognise a whole spectrum of achievements from across the global stadium industry.
