Adelaide Oval Chief Executive to judge Stadium Business Awards

The ongoing success of the Adelaide Oval has been reflected in the elevation of Chief Executive Andrew Daniels to the judging panel of the most prestigious stadium awards in the world.

Daniels has been invited to sit on the seven-person panel for the 2015 Stadium Business Awards to be presented in the Spanish city of Barcelona later this year.

He joins other high-profile stadium executives on the judging panel including Roger Maslin, Managing Director of the UK’s famous Wembley Stadium; Peter McKenna of Ireland’s Croke Park; Marie Lindquist of Sweden’s Stockholm Globe Arenas and Al Guido of the San Francisco 49ers.

Award categories include Venue of the Year, Sustainability and Project of the Year. Winners in the 2014 awards included the Tele2 Arena (Stockholm, Sweden) which took out the Venue of the Year Award and First Direct Arena (Leeds, UK) which won the New Venue Award.

The awards are the highlight of the 2015 Stadium Business Summit – the largest dedicated meeting in the world of owners, operators and developers of leading stadiums – which is being held between 9th and 11th June in Barcelona.

With the Adelaide Oval being an entrant in the 2015 Awards; Daniels will recuse himself from any judging involving the Oval.

The refurbished venue has also hosted its largest sporting crowd, with 52,633 fans packing into the Adelaide Oval during the Big Bash League semi final on Saturday 24th January.

Port Adelaide currently hold the crowd record for an AFL match with 52,505 attending the Port v Carlton match in Round 22 of the 2014 AFL Premiership Season while 54,115 rocked the Oval for the Rolling Stones concert in October last year.
