Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre welcomes new head swim coach

The Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre has welcomed Job van Duijnhoven as its new head swimming coach to oversee the development of young swimmers into elite athletes and future Olympians.

van Duijnhoven’s coaching career started in the Netherlands with the age group squad at Amsterdam swimming club ‘De Dolfijn’ in 2011, which successfully won the National Age point score for both long and short course four times in a row.

In 2012, after completing his masters in Human Movement Science at Eindhoven University of Technology, van Duijnhoven got the opportunity to coach at the National Youth Training Centre in Amsterdam, where he helped two swimmers qualify for World Championships in 2013 – Moniek Nijhuis and Esmee Vermeulen.

van Duijnhoven came to Australia in 2014, visiting many high performance swimming centres, before taking on coaching the Trinity Grammar Swimming Team and Sydney University Swimming Team where he provided performance analysis and technical advice.

Shortly after, he started working at NSW Institute of Sport as biomechanist/performance analyst where he worked together with most of the swimming clubs in NSW in preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympics.

Joining the Sydney Olympic Park team, van Duijnhoven will manage the provision of high performance coaching to swimmers, coordinate the squad pathway program for swimmers moving into the competitive squad program, provide leadership and mentoring to other squad coaches and assist the swim team in promoting a positive team culture.
