Sydney CBD fitness club linked to new Coronavirus infections in NSW

By Nigel Benton

A growing number of Coronavirus cases connected with the City Tattersalls Club's fitness centre in Sydney has prompted management to close down the entire club so it can be thoroughly sanitised.

With eight of 14 new infections linked to the CBD facility, the City Tattersalls Club closed the fitness centre on Wednesday for cleaning with the venue's board then closing the entire club until today.

NSW Health is investigating whether the cluster started at the City Tattersalls Club and then spread to workplaces in the city and to households across Sydney and the Central Coast.

The Sydney CBD cluster now includes 23 cases and authorities are warning anyone who attended the City Tattersalls Club between 4th and 18th August to get tested.

Another venue where people who attended at specific times are recommended to be tested for Coronavirus and self-isolate is the Virgin Active Health Club in the inner Sydney suburb of Zetland.

Those who attended the Club's Active Dance Class at 7:40pm on 24th August are considered a close contact.

Among other locations/times were people are urged to monitor for symptoms and self-isolate are:

• Fitness First Balgowlah, 23rd August from 9am to 12pm
• Fitness First Bond St, 20th and 21st August in the afternoon

As of Saturday 29th August, NSW Health has issued a Public health alert for the City Tattersalls Fitness Centre.
