SWIM Australia launches revamped national awards program to recognise excellence in aquatic education
SWIM Coaches & Teachers Australia has announced the launch of its refreshed and expanded SWIM Australia Awards, with nominations open until 27th July 2025.
The newly designed awards program celebrates outstanding achievements and contributions across Australia’s aquatic industry, with new categories recognising cultural diversity, youth leadership, and excellence in swim teaching and school management and operations.
Introducing the changes, SWIM Coaches and Teachers Australia Chief Executive, Brendon Ward advised "through these awards, we aim to acknowledge the dedication and creativity of our swim teachers and swim schools, while also shining a light on initiatives that promote water safety, accessibility and community engagement.
“One massive change this year, is that our major awards – SWIM Australia Teacher of the Year, SWIM Australia Swim School of the Year, are not nominated. These awards will be judged by our panel of industry experts against a marking rubric.
“Other Key highlights of the revamped awards include recognising emerging talent, inclusive practices, and cultural responsiveness, as well as splitting the major Swim School of the Year categories into Metro and Regional areas, reflecting the unique challenges and successes of different communities”
The SWIM Australia Awards will culminate in a prestigious presentation at the Vorgee Awards Gala on 20th September 2025, celebrating the best and brightest in aquatic education.
Ward went on to say “our past award winners consistently share that receiving a SWIM Australia Award has been a powerful boost to their careers. It not only opens doors to new opportunities but also enhances their professional reputation and inspires them to continue making a difference in their communities."
In addition to award nominations, SWIM Australia is also accepting applications for scholarships, funded by Carlile Swimming and Swim Insurance, to assist coaches, teachers and swim schools with the costs associated with getting to the conference.
