Sunshine Leisure Centre introduces year-round outdoor swimming

Brimbank Council’s Sunshine Leisure Centre has added year-round outdoor swimming to their service offerings, trialling new outdoor pool winter hours from 1st May.

Explaining the expansion, Brimbank Mayor, Councillor Lucinda Congreve stated “it’s a really exciting time at Sunshine Leisure Centre.

“We’ve taken on feedback from members who said they were keen to have access to the outdoor pool outside of the summer months.

“So, instead of closing the outdoor pool at the end of the summer season like we normally would, we’re starting a winter trial at Sunshine Leisure Centre from the 1st May. 

“This means the outdoor pool will stay open for the entire year, so if you’re keen for a swim in the great outdoors in the middle of winter – Sunshine Leisure Centre’s got you covered."

In the coming months, Sunshine Leisure Centre will also introduce further improvements, including 24/7 gym access, spin classes, and a new café servery.

Mayor Congreve added “later this year we’ll be opening up the gym 24/7 to our members. In addition to using equipment in the gym, members will also be able to access virtual group fitness classes ‘on demand’ around the clock as well.

“This is all about improving our service offering, meeting demand, and providing more opportunity for the community to be active."

Other improvements will include:

• Refurbishment of the foyer and reception area including a larger merchandise range, and more tables and chairs.
• Heating in the outdoor change rooms
• Improvements/facelift to the indoor change rooms
