Suncorp Stadium's gluten-free F&B outlet an Australian first
Suncorp Stadium this weekend will become the first sports venue in Australia to have a dedicated gluten-free outlet for its patrons.
Introducing the concession, Stadium General Manager Alan Graham said the move was in recognition of the number of people who now sought gluten-free products.
Graham explained "in addition to those who suffer from celiac disease, research indicates a growing number of Australians are now introducing gluten-free products into their diets. The number is as high as 1 in 22 people.
"Based on current attendances, thats more than 45,000 patrons a year we believe will benefit from being able to purchase gluten-free products when attending the Stadium."
Graham said the dedicated outlet was an initiative of the Stadium caterer, Spotless Services with full co-operation from the Queensland Reds, the Brisbane Broncos and Brisbane Roar and would be located at the north-eastern end of the Level 3 Concourse.
The range of gluten-free products available will include the traditional football favourites such as pies, hot dogs, burgers and fish and chips along with gluten-free nachos, pizzas, quiches, salad rolls and donuts.
The outlet will display a distinct logo with the letters 'GF' and a white tick inside a green circle, which will also feature on the uniforms of staff working there.
It will be operational for the first time this Friday when the Reds host their first home game of the 2014 Super Rugby season against the Cheetahs from South Africa.
