Springvale Botanical Cemetery wins global award for excellence
The Springvale Botanical Cemetery in Victoria has become the first international winner of the prestigious American Cemeteries Excellence Award (ACE). The award, recently presented to the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, recognises excellence in cemeteries and memorial parks around the world and this is the first time the award has been won by a cemetery outside of the USA.
Trust Chief Executive Jonathan Tribe believes that this outstanding achievement is just recognition for Springvale's hard working and dedicated team.
Tribe explained "our dedication to excellence has been recognised on the global stage and it is that focus and endeavour that has set Springvale Botanical Cemetery and the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust at the forefront of this industry in Australia."
Judging criteria included community involvement, grounds maintenance, innovation, cemetery performance and exemplary team spirit.
Springvale Botanical Cemetery was established in 1901 and over the last 113 years, nearly 140,000 burials and 390,000 cremations have taken place there.
