Sporting greats launch National Sports Museum

The new National Sports Museum aims to tell the Australian sporting story, from its early beginnings to the present day. According to The Hon. Kevin Rudd MP, Prime Minister of Australia, the museum "offers all Australians the opportunity to celebrate the heroes, the moments and achievements of our rich sporting culture."

The final part of the MCG's northern stand redevelopment, the National Sports Museum showcases a range of sporting subjects, including Australian football, basketball, boxing, cricket (including the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame), cycling, golf, hockey, netball, Olympic and Paralympic Games, rugby union, rugby league, football and tennis.

Featuring a range of unique sports-related artefacts, it also tells the MCG story, is home to the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and includes an extensive interactive area.
