Sport strategy consultation focusses on Brisbane 2032 legacy
The Queensland Tennis Centre recently hosted a dynamic consultation session focused on innovation and the sport industry’s future as part of Queensland’s next 10-year sport strategy.
Industry representatives came together to tackle challenges and co-create big ideas aimed at ensuring the sector thrives - before, during and well beyond Brisbane 2032.
Key priorities raised included:
Launching a ‘32 minutes a day’ campaign to drive daily physical activity
Gamification and flexible sport formats to engage new and returning participants
Tech-enabled workforce and volunteer planning, including annual conferences and student internships
Smart use of tech to streamline admin and boost visibility of clubs and activities
Enhanced sharing and activation of places and spaces - particularly schools and multi-sport venues
When asked about the legacy of Brisbane 2032, attendees highlighted its potential to:
“Make Queensland the most active state in the country”
“Drive a cultural shift in physical activity for the next generation”
“Double participation and double the volunteer workforce”
“Create a world-leading sport industry by 2032”.
The Queensland Government has launched a discussion paper ‘What does 2032 mean for you?’, to help inform the development of Queensland’s new Sport Strategy, calling for public input.
The State Government wants to hear how they can support all Queenslanders to have the confidence and knowledge to be active at all stages in life, and to make sport more inclusive and accessible.
They are inviting individuals, clubs, communities and the sport industry to have their say on how the government can:
help more Queenslanders be active, no matter their background, ability or location
improve use of local places and spaces
support community sport and encourage people to volunteer
attract and deliver world-class sporting events
build a strong, inclusive and innovative active industry
make the most of the opportunities Brisbane 2032 brings.
Public consultation is open until 15th June 2025. Have your say at www.sport.qld.gov.au
