Sport focused function space unveiled at University of Queensland St Lucia campus
The University of Queensland has unveiled a new function space as part of a $4.2 million development at its St Lucia campus in Brisbane.
Building 53C, situated on Sir William MacGregor Drive, is a multi-sport facility that also includes function space The Pavilion, which features polished concrete floors, a dual-function servery with bi-fold doors connecting to spacious outdoor terrace areas that overlook the playing fields.
It is equipped with audio-visual equipment and can stage sit-down, cocktail or lecture-style events for up to 100 guests.
The facility features 12 changing rooms, 10 storage spaces, and three rooms for physiotherapy and first aid treatment.
UQ’s Australian Football and Football Clubs will be the primary users of the new amenities, while the UQ Cricket Club will stage selected matches at the venue.
Commenting on the new venue, Queensland Minister for Sport Mick de Brenni stated “Building 53C is a first-class multi-use sporting facility which will make a huge difference to hundreds of passionate sportsmen and women every week."
