UQ Sport Academy launches

The University of Queensland (UQ) Sport's high performance branch has celebrated the launch of its newly branded UQ Sport Academy (UQSA).

The launch of the new brand coincides with the introduction of a new website and high performance gym, replacing the previous gym which was destroyed in the 2011 Queensland floods.

UQSA is Queensland's leading provider of strength and conditioning services as well as coach and athlete education programs.

The UQSA has helped Queensland sporting organisations, sporting clubs, schools and individual athletes (from developmental to Olympic level) reach their full potential.

The UQSA offers a range of opportunities for coach education and development.

Products cater for teachers, coaches, instructors, exercise and sports scientists, administrators and the general community.

Services include the Evolution of the Athlete Conference, Coach Education Seminar Series; sport-specific education workshops; and the Australian Sports Commission's Intermediate Coaching Principles courses.

The UQSA has strong links with the world renowned School of Human Movement Studies at the University of Queensland.

The School of Human Movement Studies is a leader in research and education in the areas of sport science, strength and conditioning and coach education and development.

Many of the UQSA staff are graduates of the school and use the expertise learnt during their training to help the UQSA clients reach their maximum potential.

The UQSA has strong links to a number of industry bodies and sporting organisations. These connections provide excellent mutual opportunities for coaches and athletes to develop.
