Sport and Fitness Expo for Melbourne

Melbourne is to host a new sport and fitness exhibition in March.

To be held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on 12th and 13th March, the FitX Sport and Fitness Expo has been created, according to a statement from organisers FitX Fitness Expo Pty Ltd "as a result of unprecedented demand from within the sport and fitness industry."

The organisers say that "the focus of the event is on the gym goer and sports participant, wanting to improve their health and lifestyle and find out more about the availability of products and services to take them forward. We will also be targeting owners, decision makers and managers to find out what their customers want."

At the core of the event is the International Federation of BodyBuilders (IFBB) Australian Pro Bodybuilding Grand Prix, Australiaâs longest running and most respected pro bodybuilding event, which has been held annually since 2001. The event attracts fans and enthusiasts, both male and female from across the globe.

For 2011, the Grand Prix has been expanded this event to incorporate FitX, a two day Sport and Fitness Expo, which FitX Fitness Expo says " will be the only expo of it's kind and is aimed at all health and fitness enthusiasts, from beginners to advanced."

Organisers add, "although we come from a bodybuilding background, weâre taking this opportunity to highlight the diversity of the health and fitness industry. Throughout the latest trends in group fitness, athletic apparel and MMA (mixed martial arts), in addition to all your mainstream sports, nutrition and athletic pursuits.

"With an exciting layout in Australia's world renowned venue and boasting true sporting entertainment, this will become a destination point for individuals from all over the country, both current and those wanting to see what all the hype is about."

For exhibitors, the organisers say "for direct sales, brand awareness, new product launches, market research and customer contact, the FitX Sport and Fitness Expo is the event your company should exhibit in for 2011.

"If you have a gym, supplement or fitness lifestyle line with a direct health benefit, then this show is one marketing opportunity your company canât afford to miss."

The FitX Sport and Fitness Expo is the first major multi-sport participant exhibition in Australia in recent years. As Australasian Leisure Management Publisher Nigel Benton explains "in the past, trade shows aimed at sport and fitness participants along with industry professionals have proved problematic, encountering the obstacle that sports participants are all-too-often too busy participating in their sport to attend exhibitions.

"In addition, trade exhibitors tend to want clearly targetted attendees and it can be difficult attracting both public and professionals with specific interests in buying product."
