Southern Hemisphere's largest e-gaming centre opens in Sydney

Covering an area of 2000 metres² and able to entertain over 1000 people at any one time, Fortress Esports has opened what is the largest e-gaming centre in the Southern Hemisphere in Sydney.

Located inside Central Park Mall on Sydney’s Broadway, the new venue follows Fortress Melbourne, in offering opportunities for attendees to game, compete in international online tournaments, play, socialise, game, dine and drink.

Among Fortress Sydney’s features is a fantasy-themed tavern, based on Fortress's unique character lore, a competitive and esports games arena featuring a mezzanine/VIP level, another sci-fi inspired bar, arcades, PC gaming zone with the highest specification Alienware rigs and private party booths.

Gamers will also get the chance to play releases like Fortnite in a public space with their friends and their online gaming companions.

Anticipating welcoming 400,000 visitors in its first year, Fortress Chief Executive and co-founder Jon Satterley - the former Chief Digital Officer for Village Roadshow - explained “we have poured our hearts into every detail to create a venue that's nothing short of spectacular, and we can't wait to welcome our customers into the space.”

Australia's e-gaming/esports industry raked in over $4.17 billion in 2022, with over 8.6 million households in the country taking part in the online gaming community in some way.

Fortress offers a range of features for pro and hobby gamers alike, including a custom e-sports arena for international competitions.

Fortress Sydney also offers a range of vintage arcade games.

The launch of Fortress is the first step in a long line of changes to come to the Central Park Mall, with

Australia was first introduced to the Fortress brand with Fortress Melbourne which opened in March 2020.
