Snap Fitness partners with LIVIN during Mental Health Month

The wellness initiative - Move Your Mood For Good - has been launched by Snap Fitness Australia in partnership with non-profit mental health organisation LIVIN to raise awareness and funds for mental health this October.

During Mental Health Month 2021, Australians are being encouraged to set a goal to move their mood for good and embrace the way positive lifestyle habits, such as getting your body moving, greatly improves your overall mental and physical wellbeing.

In support of the initiative, Snap Fitness venues across Australia opened their doors to the public at no cost for one week from 11th to 16th October, where permitted based on COVID restrictions.

As part of the fundraising initiative, the teams have created ‘The Amazing Mood Chase’, an activation supported by MyZone encouraging the general public across ANZ to register, fundraise and pledge their own wellness goal to move their mood for good in October.

The Amazing Mood Chase is tailored to suit in-gym and at home movement in order to remove any barriers and ensure everyone has the opportunity to simply move and improve their mental wellbeing. Whether it is from the couch to a 5km run, a personal best in the gym or making the most out of home workouts, it will be completely open to the individual. MyZone Effort Point (MEPS) moved over the week will be tracked to encourage more people to move their mood for good.

Snap Fitness has held a longstanding relationship with LIVIN, having worked with the non-profit for two years. While life in lockdown for many will likely impact how much people are able to donate, this year Snap Fitness asked for people to spread the word and encourage their friends and family to get involved, while donating even small amounts where possible.

Explaining the importance of starting the conversation around mental health and getting more people involved to raise awareness, particularly at a time when mental health has been brought to the forefront as a result of state and nation-wide lockdowns, Snap Fitness Chief Executive Chris Caldwell stated "physical and mental wellbeing go hand in hand. Times are undoubtably tough for all of us due to the ongoing pandemic, so now more than ever the fitness industry has an opportunity to educate people on what exercise can do to support improved mental health. This applies for all fitness levels and capabilities, and this is what we are trying to achieve with our Move Your Mood For Good campaign.

“We want to spread the word as far as we can this Mental Health Month and get people moving their mood to feel great! We understand this year fundraising may be more challenging, but we know it is still possible to raise some much-needed funds for LIVIN. In fact, if each of our members across ANZ donated just $1 each we could raise $214,000! Being open to non-members as well as members, we’re hoping everyone gets involved to support an important cause.”

LIVIN Chief Executive Casey Lyons emphasises the importance of self-care and taking proactive steps to look after your mental health. “We are thrilled to be working alongside Snap Fitness on their Move Your Mood For Good campaign. In what has been another tough 12 months for Australians, we are encouraging everyone to take time for their mental health.

“Our partnership with Snap Fitness allows us to continue delivering our much-needed LIVINWell Mental Health Education and Stigma Reduction Program into schools right across the country.”

With community at the heart of the campaign, participants will be given challenges to compete via a closed Facebook group and are encouraged to share their progress with other guests. Eligible participants* will also go into the draw to win a range of exciting prizes, including a $500 gift voucher, $250 lululemon voucher, a 6-month Headspace subscription + $100 Gift Card, and Apple Air Pod pros valued at $399.
