Les Mills Asia Pacific and Myzone partner to offer integrated solution to boost exerciser engagement

To enable members and exercisers who want to monitor their heart rate during exercise, leading group fitness program provider Les Mills has formed a partnership with fitness wearable group Myzone that will provide a seamless integration of their technologies.

The partnership will enable fitness clubs who offer LES MILLS™ Virtual  programs to deliver live heart rate monitoring to groups via the Myzone software.

With virtual content and wearables have both seen significant growth since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, adding heart rate feedback to virtual content has been shown to make classes even more engaging and interactive for participants, especially since the provision of live biometric feedback has been known to increase motivation.

Announcing the link, Ryan Hogan, Chief Executive at Les Mills Asia Pacific (LMAP), explained “this exciting partnership will allow clubs to really take their Virtual class experiences to the next level.

“It’s a natural synergy to combine Myzone's cutting-edge heart rate tracking technology with Les Mills' world class content, as members are sure to become raving fans thus increasing visitation, retention and ultimately club profits.”

Myzone’s Director - Asia Pacific, Mike Beeney added “the partnership with Les Mills Asia Pacific, is a true win-win scenario, and an exciting development for Myzone.

“Integrating the best virtual class content with our wearable technology and digital platform complements both products. This provides multiple benefits for clubs utilising the Myzone hardware to offer members a gamified virtual class experience and also stay connected with members outside of the club.”

“Feedback from initial clubs and members has been very positive, and we look forward to working with the Les Mills Asia Pacific team to launch this technology to other mutual and new clients across the Asia Pacific region.”

In a recent Blog article, Les Mills Trainer Jim Berg wrote that that monitoring heart rate is great for feedback, motivation and keeping check on training load.

He also noted that a heart rate monitor makes it easy for members to learn, grow, and improve their understanding about how their body responds to exercise, enabling reflection and comparison, to monitor fluctuations and establish norms being particularly valuable for members who are fans of high-intensity interval training as research reminds us of the importance of avoiding too much time in the 90%-plus max zone.

Integration at Sindhorn Wellness by Resense
Sindhorn Wellness by Resense, the first club in Thailand to offer virtual cycling, is already making the most of the partnership.

Richard Grew, the facility’s Director of Wellness, explains “the Partnership between Myzone and LES MILLS Virtual programs has been received by our members at Sindhorn Wellness as a major leap forward in the way they train.

“Our Management team are tracking the way customer habits are changing and can see that our members are pushing harder, longer and trying new programs; their fitness levels are soaring; our members are engaged at the club and are also connecting socially.”

Another winning highlight of the integrated solution is the ability to add a gamification element to participants’ target heart rates through Myzone’s software feature called ‘Zonematch’ which adds a further engaging gamification element to participants’ target heart rates.

Conveniently for clubs, this dual-integration can potentially reduce the cost of hardware and licensing fees for clubs, compared to the rates when these operating systems are purchased separately.

Registrations now open for LMAP’s next workshops and Global Live-Stream Event
Following on from last year's success Les Mills Asia Pacific is again offering a blended Workshop schedule of Online eWorkshops that are live-streamed to an Instructor’s Club, home or anywhere they like; and In-Person Workshops in some metropolitan areas where COVID-restrictions permit.

In addition to having the choice of undertaking their first quarterly training Online or for In-Person, this Quarter Instructors can also attend a free Global Live-Stream event featuring Program Directors, who will deliver a 30-minute version of five of the new Q1 Releases using cover music – the ideal way for Les Mills Instructors to whet their appetite for the Q1.2021 Quarterly Workshops on the weekends that follow.

These Workshops are where Les Mills Instructors experience the new Quarterly Releases first-hand, before sharing them with members at their Club.

Dates and details, including online registration for Q1.2021 Workshops is available at www.lesmills.com.au/quarterly-workshops
