Smart Digital offers options to host movies in outdoor locations

Inflatable movie screen supplier Smart Digital Australia is seeing that outdoor movies are becoming an increasingly popular offering in holiday parks delivering a new experience for guests and offering entertainment they do not have at home.

Smart Digital Australia Sales and Marketing Coordinator Olga Kustova explains “open air cinema occupies park visitors at night, when other activities are not available.”

Explaining that Smart Digital’s inflatable screens takes just 15 minutes to set up, Kustova adds that “with the movie theatre set up, guests can bring their sleeping bags, chairs, and pillows and let the magic begin.”

With summer approaching Smart Digital inflatable screens offer a range of possibilities:

• Invite guests for the magic movie nights under the stars
• Plug-in a set top box for Live TV so that guest don’t miss their favourite game sport (such as the Australian Open Finals!)
• Make teenagers happy with their favourite console games displayed on a big screen
• Offer younger audiences active Wii games
• Call a karaoke competition
• Organise a themed disco-party (ranging from Halloween to Valentine’s Day)
• Let visitors share their videos and pictures
• Invite guest speakers to talk about nature and use the screen for the slide show
• Have a ‘dive-in’ party by the heated pool

Kustova sees that “with so many ways to entertain, the inflatable cinema screen can be a key feature in any holiday park.

“All an operator needs is to plan different activities to involve the guests of all ages.”

Kustova suggests that to select the screen of the right size, take into account two factors: the size of the audience and the space available.

She explains “for a caravan park up to 1000 patrons, expect 200-300 moviegoers with an audience of this size, we recommend a four metre screen.

“However, if you plan to place the cinema screen near the pool, you may have to choose a three metre system.

“On the other hand, a small screen can look a bit lost in a vast area and if your backdrop is an endless field, go for a five metre screen.”

Smart Digital highlight that showing movies requires licensing with owners of caravan parks able to screen outdoor movies with a ‘Blanket Licence’.

A Blanket Licence allows holders to screen films to their audience all year round for one low annual fee.

Kustova concludes “outdoor movies bring more fun and more entertainment to the visitors of holiday parks so be sure your business is ready to share the magic of open air cinema.”
