Site of Old Sydney Town finally sold
Land on the NSW Central Coast that houses the Australian Reptile Park and the site of the former Old Sydney Town site has been sold.
The Central Coast Wyong Express Advocate has reported that the 120 hectare property has been sold to a Chinese investor who paid between $15 and $20 for the site.
Selling agents CBRE have advised said contracts for the sale were completed at the end of last month but said it has signed a confidentiality agreement and could not confirm the buyer or the selling price.
The sale appears to have ended plans to rebuild the former Old Sydney Town attraction which have surfaced regularly since the heritage site closed in 2003.
During the three month campaign to sell the land, local media reported a range of plans to reopen the attraction, none of which appear to have come to fruition.
The adjoining Australian Reptile Park, which has a long-term lease for its site, remains one of the most successful wildlife attractions in NSW.
