Singapore Tourism Board partners with Disney to drive new activations
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and The Walt Disney Company have announced a three-year collaboration that aims to attract visitors to Singapore through a range of Disney-themed experiences.
The collaboration will kick off in May with a three-day Star Wars festival to be held at Gardens by the Bay, to celebrate this year’s 40th anniversary of the release of the first Star Wars movie
STB Chief Executive Lionel Yeo said the collaboration will help to attract visitors from south east Asia and beyond, and boost business for local event organisers.
Yeo explained “the multi-year activations will profile our attractions and precincts in Singapore, beginning with Gardens by the Bay for the Star Wars festival held in May.
“Our collaboration with Disney will also offer plentiful opportunities for local event organisers and SMEs to grow their businesses and enhance their capabilities in world class branded entertainment events.”
Other Star Wars-themed activations will be launched in the second half of 2017, before Marvel and Disney Animation/Disney Pixar themes are rolled out in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia Managing Director Rob Gilby said the partnership is the first of its kind with a national tourism body in south east Asia.
Gilby added “this multi-year collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board provides more exciting opportunities and unique experiences for us to take the Disney brand of storytelling closer to our Singapore fans as well as visitors from the region.”
