Rugby League World Cup fan experience plans to be shared at Stadium and Arena ANZ Congress
Set to be staged next week, the second Stadium and Arena Australia and New Zealand Congress will be bringing together over 18 industry experts from some of the biggest stadium and arena projects in Australia and around the world including: the new Perth Stadium, ANZ Stadium, the new North Queensland Stadium and Auckland’s Eden Park.
Being held at the Sydney Cricket Ground on the 24th and 25th October, significant keynote addresses will include a case study/workshop on the redevelopment of Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium along with a range of presentations on stadium and event initiatives in Australia and New Zealand.
Among these Maria Sykes, Chief Operating Officer of the 2017 Rugby League World Cup will address how the event has been working with venue to deliver “a unique fan experience”.
With the Rugby League World Cup set to start, Sykes’ presentation will explain how she and her team have overseen the development, organisation and facilitation of this vast and complex project, working with all stadiums to provide an unparalleled and unique fan experience.
Her session will examine how the event has partnered with venues to deliver the best possible fan experience and how fans will enjoy high quality entertainment from the moment they enter each tournament venue.
In a recent interview with Women in League, Sykes explained that the “Rugby League World Cup will not only be the greatest World Cup ever but the biggest sporting event in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in 2017.
“This will be a true festival of rugby league and be seen by more fans than ever before. For some cities, this will be the first time they will have hosted a World Cup sporting event and we know this tournament will create a lasting legacy for the sport.”
Developed to provide a holistic industry perspective with insights from a wide range of industry stakeholders, including governments, owner/operators, project managers and hirers, the Stadium and Arena Congress 2017 will also include site tours to ANZ Stadium and Spotless Stadium, and the Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium.
The Congress is co-located with the Public Venue & Soft Target Security Summit.
