Roof cover enhances Diamond Creek Netball Courts
Diamond Creek Netball Courts, located in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, have been recently opened with a new roof cover enhancing the facility.
The new cover will increase usage, with courts being used more frequently allowing for additional teams and membership growth.
The roof cover followed on from court resurfacing and lighting upgrade creating a premier sporting destination.
Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan recently joined Vicki Ward Eltham MP, Councillors and representatives from Netball Victoria and Nillumbik Force Netball Association at the courts to celebrate the official launch of the netball courts cover.
The works to upgrade the facility, located in Diamond Street, have been funded via $1 million from the Victorian Government and $517,381 Council contribution.
Mayor Ramcharan thanked the Victorian Government for the contribution to the project, and Vicki Ward MP for her continued advocacy for projects that benefit our community.
He also thanked the Nillumbik Force Netball Association and all the volunteers from the clubs for the work they do, particularly supporting the development of junior netballers.
The Association can now better support local teams as well as host large tournaments in all conditions, attracting thousands of visitors to Diamond Creek and Nillumbik.
Mayor Ramcharan noted “Council aims to remove barriers to participation in sport for under-represented groups in the community including women and girls.”
