rEVENTS Academy launches its 2023 seven-week event management training program

With COVID having had a momentous impact on events in regional Australia and with many regional events still not in the clear, the event management training platform rEVENTS Academy has launched its popular seven-week event management training program to run from 24th July to 10th September 2023.

The program helps committees deliver successful and sustainable events in regional areas across Australia, and teaches participants how to run their events more efficiently, and with less hard work.

COVID had a momentous impact on events in regional Australia; in many cases causing event organisers to cancel their events for two, or even three, years in a row. Regional events are still not in the clear, commonly struggling with a lack of human and financial resources to cover their large, and increasing, costs.

The recent increased ‘cost of living’ has impacted events, with some operational costs being as much as 350% higher than pre-COVID. Furthermore, event committees are typically volunteers, often lacking professional expertise as well as enough volunteer support.

Combine this with increased compliance and regulatory burdens, regional events are under significant pressures.

The event management training platform rEVENTS Academy has been designed to support event organisers learn how to overcome barriers and challenges. Through the program, event organisers learn how to build strong foundations for their events so they can continue to successfully deliver benefits for their communities and local economies for years to come.

The rEVENTS Academy seven-week event management training program includes every aspect of event management. Participants improve their skills in event planning, volunteer management, securing sponsorship, grant writing, effective marketing, sustainability, accessibility, and more.

Ten easy-to-follow online modules incorporate live weekly webinars, video lessons, an online forum for questions and interaction, best-practice case studies from across Australia, and all the templates needed to develop a complete operations manual.

All of the content is packaged into bite-sized modules to make it easy for participants to learn, and participants enjoy lifetime access to the program’s lessons and templates so they can come back at any time in the future to refresh and improve.

The weekly live sessions of the seven-week program include learnings from regional event expert Linda Tillman and from event organisers and Council event staff from across regional Australia. This provides participants with the opportunity to ask questions related to their events and receive advice from an expert as well as learn from their peers’ experiences.

The seven-week course brings together a cohort of event organisers and Council event staff from across regional Australia to undertake the course together, including

  • volunteer event organisers who work hard to deliver events that benefit their communities

  • Council staff who deliver and support events in their communities

  • students looking to develop practical skills in event management

The 2022 seven-week course was a huge success with event organisers and Council event staff from across regional Australia benefiting.

Claire McCann, the Arts and Tourism Officer at Weddin Shire Council who undertook the program in 2022 shared "I really enjoyed rEVENTS Academy. The course is ideal for every type of event at every stage of the event lifecycle, and for events run by the community and by Council staff. I feel like I learnt more in this seven week course than I would have in a year of study. The resources and case studies provided are invaluable."

Councils looking to boost the skills of event organisers in their region can benefit from a 10% discount for groups of five or more committees. This supports collaboration between event organisers which in turn supports growth in tourism to the region.
