Resorts World Sentosa’s attractions welcomes 20th million visitor

Four years after opening, Resorts World Sentosa's attractions - Universal Studios, Adventure Cove Water Park and S.E.A Aquarium - welcomed their 20th million visitor last Thursday (17th July).

Singaporean Isaac Leong and his family got an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the world's largest aquarium in addition to a gift hamper and annual passes to the S.E.A Aquarium.

The aquarium aims to promote shark conservation next month, with special programmes planned like a shark adventure trail for children.

Leong explained "we loved going on field trips, so this is one of the things that we can study about the animals and my children love animals.

“They will be happy to learn and memorise the names of animals and their features."

Commenting on the visitor milestone, Resorts World Sentosa Vice President of Attractions Jason Horkin “we couldn’t have achieved this milestone without the support of our visitors from Singapore and the region.

“We will continue to refresh both hardware and heartware to enhance our visitors’ experience, while maintaining world class standards across all our attractions here at Resorts World Sentosa.”

In June, Resorts World Sentosa’s Marine Life Park (MLP) became an accredited member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), recognising its role in promoting conservation and public education. The membership places Marine Life Park under the same umbrella association with leading zoos and aquariums around the world. This membership will help the park foster greater collaboration, and put Singapore on the world map in marine conservation, education and research.

The S.E.A. Aquarium will soon launch its themed conservation month, aimed at raising awareness on different marine species and will also be introducing an expansion of its popular Discovery Touch Pool, as well as a new shark dive program.

Spanning 49 hectares, Resorts World Sentosa is located on Singapore’s resort island of Sentosa. Opening in January 2010, the Resort welcomed over 45 million visitors in its first three years of opening.

It is is home to two mega attractions - the region’s first-and-only Universal Studios theme park and the Marine Life Park, which comprises the S.E.A. Aquarium (one of the world’s largest aquariums) and Adventure Cove Waterpark. Other attractions include a Maritime Experiential Museum, an award-winning destination spa, a casino, six unique hotels, the Resorts World Convention Centre, celebrity chef restaurants, and specialty retail outlets.
