Redeveloped Launceston Tennis Centre hosts successful international event
The newly redeveloped Launceston Tennis Centre has hosted the Launceston International 2025 offering a week of high-quality matches. The Launceston International has been locked in until 2027 as part of the Tasmanian Government’s $750,000 commitment to the Tennis Tasmania Series.
Tasmanian Minister for Sports and Events, Nick Duigan, said it was incredible to witness world-class tennis at the state-of-the-art centre and noted “the Launceston International has always been an iconic event for northern Tasmania, and it has been a pleasure to have it back up and running at the new $3.1 million Launceston Tennis Centre.
“Events such as the Launceston International and recent HCi Burnie International have a reputation for attracting world-class tennis players and emerging talents, and are a major drawcard for visitors to our regions.
“We are committed to ensuring live sport is accessible for Tasmanians, and we are proud to support Tennis Australia with funding through Events Tasmania to deliver the Launceston International.
“It was fantastic to hear how the visitors and players enjoyed the refurbished centre and facilities.
“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we were proud to have contributed $2 million towards the redevelopment of the Launceston Tennis Centre, which is now a hub for major tennis events as well as local tennis players and clubs.”
