Red Energy takes on naming rights deal for Bendigo Stadium

Red Energy, the energy retail subsidiary of Snowy Hydro Limited, has taken up the naming rights to Bendigo Stadium.

To be renamed Red Energy Arena from next month, the sponsorhip is the first such deal for the 4,000-seat venue, which will host 2026 Commonwealth Games events.

Advising that the partnership aims to raise location’s brand recognition to a national level, Bendigo Stadium Chief Executive, Dennis Bice commented that the deal will “enhance the stadium’s status as a world class facility”, noting that “this is a fantastic collaboration and partnership with a company that is Australian owned with a focus around building better communities.”

The indoor venue received a $22 million redevelopment in 2018 which saw its capacity increased to hold a crowd of 4,000 when in show-court configuration. Its standard set up is three courts and reduced seating.

The venue is home to WNBL side, Bendigo Spirit and the NBL1’s Bendigo Braves. It will also stage netball matches during the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Previously, it has hosted Super Netball and NBL games.

Red Energy will supply the stadium with renewable energy as part of the Victorian Government’s Victorian Energy Collaboration (VECO) contract with the sponsor.

Expected to see a reduction in 260,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, the VECO agreement sees 46 Victorian councils pool their electricity requirements into one long-term contract with Red Energy which provides renewable energy generated from wind farms in the state.

Red Energy is an Australian-owned subsidiary of Snowy Hydro, an electricity and gas retailer in Victoria, NSW, ACT, Queensland and South Australia.
