Recreational water quality monitoring commences in Hawke’s Bay

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is today (Monday 3rd November) commencing a monitoring programme of recreational water quality.

The programme will monitor popular bathing sites at the region’s beaches, rivers and estuaries for indicators of harmful pathogens associated with human health issues.

Water quality at the region’s bathing sites is generally good except after periods of heavy rain.

The Council advises against swimming or collecting shellfish within three days of heavy rain or if beachgoers cannot see their toes when standing in the water.
