Recreation SA encourages South Australians to recreate
Recreation SA has launched its new campaign this month to encourage South Australians to ‘Get out and #Recre8SA.’
#Recre8SA is predominantly a social media campaign, calling on those who are already engaged in recreational activity to act as ambassadors for the abundance of recreational activity available throughout South Australia.
The campaign is supported by Recreation SA members who are encouraging participants to share evidence of their recreational activity, creating a combined approach that will reach thousands of South Australians and encourage action.
The campaign is incentivised with monthly prizes. Winners who have successfully incorporated #Recre8SA into their social media efforts will be selected at random.
Recreation SA Executive Officer Rebecca Deans explains that #Recre8SA is a cumulative effort between Recreation SA, its members and their participants to reach South Australians that might be leading a sedentary lifestyle.
Deans explains “there are so many wonderful opportunities for recreation regardless of where you live in South Australia. You can discover walking trails, dive into the pool, find your local gym or leisure centre.
“We are committed to our role in encouraging people and families to find a recreational activity that suits their lifestyle and in many cases enjoy improved health and wellbeing.”
Recreation SA has developed a new online directory via the Recreation SA website, enabling the public to enter their postcode and preferred form of recreation in order to be provided with a detailed list of activities available in their local area. View the directory and member listings here.
Posters and flyers promoting the campaign are being sent to members, to be displayed in member centres and facilities. Members can also utilise a series of Facebook images which promotes the selfie competition. These are available in the Member Reources section on Recreation SA’s homepage.
The campaign will receive a public launch at Adelaide’s Rundle Mall from 11am to 3pm on Friday 9th October, supported by Adelaide City Council and coinciding with the school holiday break for families looking for fun activities.
The launch will include opportunities to try mini golf, netball, on stage personal training demonstrations and giant Jenga under the Gawler Place Canopy.
