Ready Steady Go Kids opens in Newcastle, Port Stephens and Lake Macquarie
Ready Steady Go Kids, Australia's largest multi-sport and exercise program for pre-schoolers, has started operating programs in Newcastle, Port Stephens and Lake Macquarie led by personal trainer and ex-AFL player Ben Fennell.
With a passion for sports and fitness and an interest in early childhood development, Fennell sees the Ready Steady Go Kids program as a perfect fit for his two interests.
Keen to be as involved with the program as much as possible, Fennell will not only own and operate the franchise, but work as an instructor as well.
He explains "Ready Steady Go Kids is the best and most respected multi-sport preschool program in the country."
Having played football professionally, Fennell knows what a large role sport can play in a child's life, both in terms of fitness and in mental development, and holds the importance of childhood development and engagement in sport and an active lifestyle in high esteem.
He adds "I want to focus on the enjoyment factor.
"Watching a child go from shy to confident with the help of sports is such a rewarding experience."
Ready Steady Go Kids has a strong reputation for boosting school readiness, and encouraging confidence, self-sufficiency and cooperation with peers. The program helps develop and refine gross and fine motor skills, enhance hand-eye and foot-eye coordination, encourage concentration and listening, and introduces basic concepts of colours, numbers and shapes.
More than this, it's a fun program that incorporates sports and activity that can help develop a lifelong love of fitness.
By allowing children to participate in up to 10 different sports over the course of the program in one location, they are given the opportunity to find one or more that they enjoy and can thrive in.
Fennell, who acknowledges that many parents are short on time, but still want to provide their children the opportunity to enjoy sports and stay active, acknowledges that "I'm sure it would have saved my parents hundreds of hours of time commuting between different venues and given me more opportunity to experience different sports instead of one or two."
Fennell plans to establish six different locations for the program around the Newcastle, Port Stephens and Lake Macquarie area in 12 months.
The program will be demonstrated at the Newcastle Show, from 28th February to 2nd March 2014.
Established in 2004, Ready Steady Go Kids currently run classes at 150+ locations in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia and Queensland as well as operating internationally in Singapore, UK, India and Indonesia.
