Fitness First seals three year sponsorship with Singapore National Olympic Council
Affirming its commitment to strengthen Singapore’s fitness and sporting community, Fitness First Singapore has announced a three-year sponsorship deal with the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) to support Team Singapore athletes on their path to Rio 2016 Olympic Games and the Youth Olympic Games, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in 2018.
With this partnership, Fitness First will become the official fitness partner of the SNOC.
As TeamSG celebrated its historic haul of 259 medals at the 28th South East Asian (SEA) Games, this sponsorship aims to help more athletes realise their international sporting ambitions. Fitness First is extending long-term support to the sporting community in Singapore with this sponsorship to help TeamSG go further and strive towards their Olympic dreams.
In partnership with the SNOC, the three-year agreement will see Fitness First sponsor a total of 200 memberships worth S$1.3 million in international memberships to support the long-term athlete development of TeamSG.
With this infrastructure in place, athletes will be able to access the network of Fitness First clubs and its premium offerings located around the world to ensure they are able to consistently perform at their peak.
Fitness First will also be extending access to its premium network of offerings to athletes from the National Sports Associations and ensure support is given to both established and budding athletes to help them further their sporting ambitions. Fitness First will focus its resources significantly on developing athletes that currently have established a foothold at the National level, with hopes to achieve a placing at the regional, continental and international major games.
Organisations involved in this initiative include Singapore Athletics, Singapore Amateur Boxing Association, Singapore Hockey Federation, Singapore Sailing Federation and among others.
In recent years, Fitness First has supported a range of TeamSG athletes with their sporting ambitions who did well at the 28th SEA Games such as the Netball team (gold medalists), fencer Lim Wei Wen (silver medalist), the Rugby 7s men and women’s team (bronze and silver medalists), as well as Mok Ying Ren, the marathon gold medalist in 2013.
Commenting on the partnership, Fitness First Asia Chief Executive Simon Flint stated “with this partnership with the Singapore National Olympic Council, we are increasing our commitment to developing Singapore’s talent, as well as growing the nation’s fitness and
“Fitness First applauds all Team Singapore athletes who have inspired the nation with their perseverance and unyielding commitment to sport. We are proud to be part of our athletes’ journey and look forward to providing additional support for more athletes across more sports to help them go further and take their sporting careers to the next level.”
As a partner of the SNOC, Fitness First will play a meaningful role in supporting the sporting success of TeamSG athletes at major international, regional and continental games. The company will also provide support to develop the sports talent pipeline and increase the profile of athletes and their disciplines within the local community. The agreement was facilitated by Enterprise Sports Group.
In the United Kingdom, Fitness First is also the official fitness partner of Team GB (the British Olympic Association).
