Randwick Racecourse infield to be transformed into a 450 car capacity movie theatre
Recreating Australia's once popular tradition of drive-in movies, Royal Randwick racecourse's 'Racecourse Drive-In Cinema' will reopen in May 2013 for a three month season, giving event attendees the unique opportunity to experience latest release movies and themed nights from their cars.
Following a highly successful trial season in 2010 that saw over 16,000 people attend 25 public sessions, the 2013 season will commence in May with over 40 public sessions running every Friday, Saturday and Sunday to the end of July.
Corporate event nights are available for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Racecourse Drive-In Cinema founder Paul Rosenberg was nostalgic about his childhood pastime and wanted families and companies alike to share in the joy of a drive in.
Rosenberg explained "jumping in the car and going to the Drive-In used to be a great family bonding experience.
"We've recreated that opportunity and made it available for all.
"We have great support from companies wanting to bring teams and stakeholders together in a fun and unique environment suited for families, couples and groups."
The Drive-In is available for private corporate events, product launches, educational events, team building events, networking events and VIP experiences with a maximum of 450 vehicles. There is a VIP area suited for 50 vehicles.
Showing the latest release films with opportunities for themed nights and brand specific content to be displayed on the giant 20 x 16 metre screen for private events, the Drive-In gives event producers a flexible and functional space with an old-school edge.
Patrons listen to the movie soundtrack through their car radios, with minimal impact on nearby residents.
Racecourse Drive In Cinema has sponsorship opportunities available throughout the 2013 season.
