Quayclean prepares venues for 2021 AFL season with comprehensive hygiene regimes
Quayclean Australia is preparing to build on its exceptional 2020 AFL season results in keeping spectators, players and officials COVIDSafe when the 2021 AFL season commences this week.
Quayclean was responsible for cleaning and hygiene services at over 120 AFL games last season, including the Grand Final between Richmond and Geelong played at the Gabba in Brisbane as part of the south-east Queensland playing ‘bubble’.
With health restrictions being eased to allow spectators to return to sporting venues across the country, Quayclean will be responsible for pre and post event cleaning plus rotational touchpoint cleaning at Marvel Stadium, Adelaide Oval, the Gabba and Giants Stadium when round one begins this week.
In addition, Quayclean is contracted to the Sydney Cricket Ground, GMHBA Stadium, Metricon Stadium and Manuka Oval.
At these venues, Quayclean staff will be cleaning and disinfecting areas and surfaces including:
• Team changing rooms, coaches rooms and interchange benches
• Umpires rooms
• Media conference rooms, tables and chairs
• Media facilities including radio and TV broadcast areas, desks and chairs
• Lifts and escalators
• Handrails, doorknobs, support ledges, toilets, light switches, phones, fridges, taps
• Stadium equipment control areas and equipment
• Photocopiers, printers
Quayclean Chief Executive, Mark Piwkowski, said his venue teams across the country have reviewed processes and procedures from the 2020 AFL season with the view to deliver unblemished services to all stadia from the first bounce this week, commenting “the 2020 AFL season was extremely challenging as we performed cleaning and hygiene services at the peak of the pandemic in Australia.
“Despite many initial unknowns, we quickly armed our teams with the best and safest equipment and updated them with the latest information from local and overseas health agencies. The combination of these factors allowed us to deliver a flawless service to keep all parties free from COVID-19 infection last year.
“While many of the severe restrictions have been lifted and we are now permitted to move with greater freedom within our communities and attend sports events such as AFL in reduce capacities, we cannot afford to become complacent when it comes to disinfecting and decontaminating match venues.
“The basic principles of hygiene and infection control remain unchanged - clean with a Therapeutic Goods of Australia approved chemical and then continue to maintain this regime via our exhaustive Clean, Kill and Maintain program.”
