Qatar’s Meryal Waterpark secures three awards

Qatar aquatic destination, Meryal Waterpark, has secured three awards at the Park World Excellence Ceremony 2024 in Amsterdam.  The awards for Theme Parks, Water Parks and Family/Indoor Entertainment Centres in the EMEA region.

Meryal Waterpark won awards for Best Waterpark of the Year, Best Waterpark Experience and Best Product Innovation.

The park was recognised for its exceptional contributions to the waterpark industry, showcasing innovation, guest experience, and cultural significance.

The Best Waterpark of the Year award was in recognition of the park’s blend of cultural heritage and contemporary design.

Meryal Waterpark's reputation as one of the world's most impressive waterparks stems from its attractions, innovative features, cultural significance, and premium guest experience.

The Best Waterpark Experience award was for Icon Tower. Inspired by the region’s rich heritage in the oil and gas industry, the Icon Tower.

Also known as ‘The Rig 1938’, the Icon Tower holds two Guinness World Records attempts for the tallest waterslide  and the tower with the most slides.

The tower features 12 slides in total, some of which are interconnected tunnels that provide an exhilarating experience.

Best Product Innovation award is also for Icon Tower. Meryal Waterpark’s innovative approach to waterpark attractions was further acknowledged with this award. Standing at over 85metres tall, it offers an array of water slides for thrill-seekers of all ages.

Bill Lentz, general manager of Meryal Waterpark shared “we are incredibly proud to receive these awards, which validate our commitment to providing world-class experiences for our guests."

Meryal Waterpark is a joint venture between Qetaifan Projects and WhiteWater, renowned global leaders in waterpark development, the statement added.

The awards also recognised WhiteWater as Best Supplier with Siam Park - a water park in Costa Adeje, a coastal suburb in Tenerife, Canary Islands, securing the ‘Best of the Best’ award.
