Public comment period closes on Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre upgrade plan
The Shire of Broome’s invitation to the public to comment on $38 million worth of infrastructure upgrades proposed within its new sports and recreation plan 2021-203 closes today.
The draft plan, which will be open for public comment until 25th March, details the Shire’s vision for the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre (BRAC) over the next 10 years.
The plan prioritises new facilities such as a gym, squash courts, two new multi-purpose courts, lighting for Joseph ‘Nipper’ Roe oval and a pavilion between ‘Nipper’ and Father McMahon sports fields.
The plan also details upgrades to Shire facilities that aren’t part of the BRAC, such as the Bowls Club and Rodeo Grounds and the construction of a separate $70 million boating facility for Broome.
The new sports and recreation plan will be subject to periodic review to ensure it remains current and reflects the needs of the community.
