Play Australia to expand in South Australia

With growing membership numbers and interest in the work of Play Australia in South Australia, the organisation is to expand its network and principles of promoting healthy and stimulating play for children and the community.

Play Australia have recently held two meetings, using venues courtesy of the Adelaide City Council, to discuss recent play trends as well as the new internationally aligned Playground Equipment Standard AS 4685-2014.

The events included speakers from the South Australian Department for Education and Child Development, Nature Play SA and the University of South Australia.

Many attendees showed their support in being part of a ‘Play Australia SA’ group and the next steps in this process are now underway.

As part of this process, Wednesday 30th July there will be a formal meeting of those interested in being part of the team in forming a South Australian branch.

The meeting will be hosted by long time Play Australia partner the City of Marion and will be convened by Greg Keep from Keep-Safe Pty Ltd.

Keep is well known for conducting safety assessments on playgrounds, the buildings and space around them, and is also endorsed as a Health and Safety Representative by Safework SA.

Play Australia encourages all interested to attend and have input into how a South Australian organisation could be set up as well as considering the development of goals for the coming years.
