Plans unveiled for new bowling alley and entertainment venue in Canberra

Entertainment company Kingpin have lodged for plans to convert the food centre at the Canberra Centre’s North Quarter into a games playground, including a bowling alley.

Kingpin plan to turn the space beneath the Dendy Cinema into a multi-attraction experience, with fully licensed bars, escape rooms, karaoke, table tennis, an eight-lane tenpin bowling facility, projection screens, pool tables and more than 100 arcade games, ranging from classics to the latest high-tech experiences.

The $2.5 million project is for an internal fit-out only and there will be no external alterations to the existing permanent buildings.

The Development Application includes a demolition plan and claims an exemption from lodging a separate DA for demolition works as they will be contained entirely within the internal structure of the building.

The Level 1 space near Rebel Sport will need to be reclassified as an Indoor Entertainment Venue.

Kingpin says it will be a contemporary new fit-out, with the bowling to include six public bowling lanes as well as two private lanes in Kingpin’s private function area, Room 300.

The venue will be available for hire for special events and celebrations, and offer a food and cocktail menu for all tastes.

The bowling chain already has eight locations across Australia including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Darwin and Townsville.

The new attraction is set to open early next year.
