Opening of Kingpin Darwin marks new era for Ardent Leisure

Following the success of its Family Entertainment Centre (FEC) division in the USA, Ardent Leisure has brought concepts used by the North American-based Main Event business to a new Kingpin Bowling centre in Darwin.

Offering a range of entertainment activities and food and beverage outlets along with 22 tenpin bowling lanes, Kingpin Darwin, which opened earlier this month, is the chain's largest Australian entertainment precinct.

The 3800 metre² attraction offers:

• 22 bowling lanes
• A 400 metre²  laser skirmish area - a suspended obstacle-style ropes course, set high above the large amusement arcade arena.
• An elevated Sky Trail ropes climbing course
• A 70 game amusement arcade
• An all-day food menu, café and bar, menu, café and bar, offering locally brewed beer from One Mile Brewery
• A karaoke room and individual party rooms.

With its size and variety of offer, the Darwin venue is also a first for Ardent Leisure, whose brand portfolio includes AMF Bowling and Kingpin; as well as the Gold Coast theme parks Dreamworld and White Water World and Goodlife Health Clubs.

The FEC features state-of-the-art technology including immersive lighting and game technology in its laser skirmish zone through to advanced technology at the bowling lanes where bowlers can message friends, upload photos to social media and order food and drinks from their own console.

Commenting on the new attraction, Ardent Bowling Division Chief Executive Nicole Noye stated "we are creating fun and taking entertainment to the next level in Darwin, giving guests the latest activities in an exciting and dynamic environment.

“We are proud to be building our largest and most contemporary entertainment offer in Northern Territory.

“Not only are we bringing the fun, we are also creating employment and training opportunities with over 50 jobs."
