Ardent Leisure plans international expansion

With its US-based family entertainment centre business having consistently been industry-wide leisure group Ardent Leisure’s top performing division, the Sydney-based operator is reportedly looking to expand internationally.

Following Village Roadshow’s plans to expand its theme and water park operations in Asia, a report in The Australian suggests that Ardent intends to leverage recent changes in its executive staff and board to expand its reach into China, Europe and the USA.

The Australian reports that Ardent Leisure Chairman “Neil Balnaves has flagged that the group will use the firepower from recent high-profile board appointments to help it expand further into the US and possibly enter China and Europe.”

Valued at $990 million , Ardent’s assets include Dreamworld and WhiteWater World theme parks on the Gold Coast, Goodlife Health Clubs, AMF and Kingpin Bowling  centres and its high performing Main Event FEC division.

The Group has also announced this week that former NRMA Investments Chief Executive Melanie Willis has joined the board as a non-executive director.
