PLA cancels National Conference and all events
Parks and Leisure Australia has announced that it has cancelled its 2020 National Conference and all of its other planned events "due to the escalation of COVID-19".
In communications to members and stakeholders, PLA Chief Executive, Mark Band advised "all upcoming PLA events have been postponed ... obviously we are all very disappointed but our concern lies with the health and well-being of our members and supporters."
Band's advice on PLA's National Converence, scheduled to be held at Sydney Olympic Park in October, stated "this event has been postponed until September 2021".
Band's communication went on to advise "the COVID-19 outbreak is having an unprecedented impact on our industry. The scale of the outbreak has been incredible.
"Just as you are trying to understand how to operate and what this means for your company and/or organisation, PLA is also changing how we operate so we can continue to service and support our members.
"This week, the National Board made a series of decisions to help protect the future of PLA whilst at the same time meeting the needs of our members.
"Difficult decisions were made in terms of postponing upcoming conferences, events and seminars."
PLA has also advised that entries for the 2020 Parks and Leisure Awards of Excellence are now extended to midnight Friday 24th April.
