PLA 2019 Conference a forum for sharing of ideas and learnings

Looking forward to its upcoming 2019 National Conference in Perth, Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA) is to focus on the importance of linking parks, open spaces and facilities to health, well-being and sporting performance and will address the fundamental need for good policy, planning and provision of parks, open spaces and facilities.

Over three days (27th to 30th October), PLA2019 will address these issues with speakers including Jack Kardys, Chairman of the USA’s National Parks and Recreation Association; Kia Dowell, Commissioner at WA Tourism and Executive Director, Indigenous Business Australia; Erion Veliaj, the Mayor of the Albanian capital of Tirana, who has gained worldwide acclaim for transforming his city; and Sport Australia Chief Executive Kate Palmer.

Overall a line-up of more than 80 world-class speakers will deliver two days of presentations backed by a program of six technical tours.

In addition, with a trade exhibition and multiple social events, the Conference offers numerous opportunities to share ideas and learn new things.

As PLA Chief Executive, Mark Band explains “PLA 2019 has a number of great opportunities to make new and connect with old friends.

“There are four social functions going on in and around the conference to give you a chance to relax and chat about what you've learnt during the day.”

The close of the conference will also see the PLA present its annual Awards of Excellence at a Gala Dinner of the evening of Tuesday 29th October.
