PILA Group highlights why aluminium goal posts are better than steel, timber or PVC

Responding to frequently asked questions about the best material to make goal posts from - wood, PVC, steel or aluminium - Sydney-based goal post suppliers PILA Group have highlighted that safety protocols for goal posts have been improved in recent years.

To exceed the requirements set by Football Federation Australia and world football governing body FIFA, PILA Group only manufactures football and futsal goal posts from high tensile aluminium tube with extruded net tracks for additional safety.

They do this for the following reasons:

1. Aluminium is lighter than steel or timber goals

Lighter goals are easier to move especially for multi-use fields where posts need to be removed for the off-season or to accommodate other winter sports.

2. Aluminium is safer than steel, timber or PVC goals

Since the banning of steel net clips in 2000, safer alternatives have been implemented. PILA’s extruded net track is part of the aluminium goal frame and allows nets to be attached through a specially designed system that is designed to prevent injury.

3. Aluminium is virtually maintenance free

Aluminium does not rust like steel, does not rot like timber, and does not crack or warp like PVC, making it easier to maintain and care for, saving you money over the life of your goal posts.

In a statement, PILA Group explain “our durable gloss white powdercoated finish protects posts against the elements.”

PILA’s football goal posts are used at major venues and by leading sporting teams including Sydney FC, Melbourne Heart, BCU Stadium, Marconi-Fairfield, Asia Pacific Football Academy in New Zealand, Central Coast Mariners, Blue Tongue Stadium, Smiles Stadium, at promotional events for the Socceroos and NAB, and at countless council, club and school fields nationally.

PILA Group goal posts have also been installed at AFC Asian Cup venue Hunter Stadium, with Venues NSW having selected PILA’s Soccer Stadium Pack with senior semi-permanent goal posts, free hanging net supports and senior box nets. These international grade soccer goals are compliant with FFA, FIFA, European and Australian standards as required for competition level.
