Perth’s Matagarup Bridge zip-line attraction officially opens

Perth’s Matagarup Bridge zip-line attraction officially opened yesterday with more than 35 people booked in to undertake the thrilling ride.

The attraction’s platform sits about 72 metres above the Swan River with those undertaking the ride, zipping down from the bridge at almost 75 kilometres an hour.

The first zip-line ride was auctioned off as part of the 2020 Telethon Charity Auction with the successful bidder joining the opening celebrations.

The launch of the zip-line comes after a 12-month COVID-attributed delay from when it was first slated to open in Christmas 2020.The opening of the zip-line, along with the Bridge Climb which opened earlier this year on 26th January, signals the completion of the Matagarup Bridge Activities project.

The platform has hosted a number of memorable events throughout the year including a wedding and 2021 AFL Grand Final Cup photo shoot.

Western Australian Transport Minister Rita Saffioti officially opened the attraction and noted "the team has done remarkably well delivering this project in the middle of a global pandemic. This is a once in a generation project and it was important we took the time to get it right.”

Matagarup Zip+Climb General Manager and Director Ryan Zaknich added "today is a very exciting day for us as we commence the zip-line operations, which we know the people of Perth have been patiently and eagerly awaiting.

"We have been working through our list of priority customers with pre-purchased gift certificates and general ticket sales are now open.

"We also look forward to having further discussions with Burswood Park Board and Main Roads on developing future family friendly activities on Burswood Park adjacent to the zip-line landing platform."

Prices for the zip-line start from $99 for the express zip and up to $149 for a zip and climb package including free photos.

General public sales for the zip-line ride are now open and tickets can be purchased at zipclimb.com.au
