Perth's Astor Theatre launches news small room venue
Perth's The Astor Theatre is now booking shows for its new room The Astor Lounge, a new small-venue live music space in the theatre building.
Having undergone renovations to allow a full reserved seating, standing general admission or combination set-ups, the room, accessed through the top-level bar, has recently hosted its first shows, including The Panics' frontman Jae Laffer's solo show.
Astor executive Robbie Denman recently told theMusic.com.au that they will be looking to book both touring and local shows but they have a focus on Perth artists initially.
Denman explained "at this stage dates will have to work around prior bookings in the main Astor Theatre until we can work on presenting both rooms at the same time."
The Lounge lacks a bar inside the room but the venue has a temporary bar that can be set-up for the artists' sets.
Denman said that the attached main bar remains open to punters during shows and allows "artists to perform to a captive audience without having to compete with a noisy bar area."
