Dettol expands industry presence with MCG partnership

Disinfectant brand Dettol has announced a new partnership with the Melbourne Cricket Ground to protect crowds at the venue.

With parent company Reckitt Benckiser having announced a partnership and naming rights sponsorship with Cricket Australia last September, the high profile hygiene and germ protection brand has become the MCG’s Official Hygiene Partner in a two-year agreement.

Commenting with the recent Boxing Day Test, more than 275 Dettol Instant Hand Sanitisation Stations have been installed throughout the venue to ensure players, staff and fans, as well as those visiting the Australian Sports Museum, can easily access the trusted germ protection of Dettol and feel confident as they return to the venue.

The partnership supports the numerous protocols in place for the return of crowds to the MCG.

Stuart Fox, Chief Executive of MCG manager the Melbourne Cricket Club, is pleased to be working with Dettol to offer its trusted germ protection to visitors at the Boxing Day Test and beyond.

Fox explained “like the MCG, Dettol is a trusted institution in Australia thanks to their 80-year heritage, so it is particularly fitting that we can join forces to help support the return of crowds and events to the stadium.

“The wellbeing of all visitors is our number one priority and we hope that through this partnership and protective initiatives, fans will feel secure and confident to return to MCG, whether it is for the cricket, the footy or to visit the Australian Sports Museum.”

David Rankine, General Manager of Reckitt Benckiser Health ANZ added “our priority is to make germ protection as accessible and easy as possible both in and outside the home (and) there’s no better way to get people back out and enjoying one of the nation’s most popular pastimes - sport - than by partnering with the iconic MCG.”
