Perth Arena ices over
Through the middle of the Australian winter the Perth Arena has staged two major ice events over recent weeks.
Saturday 20th June saw the Arena host the final game in the four-game Canada VS USA Ice Hockey Classic, with Canada winning the inaugural International Ice Hockey Classic 3-1.
Marking the third consecutive year that an ice hockey exhibition series has been held in Australia, the series, backed by the not-for-profit Stop Concussions organisation, had earlier drawn crowds to Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, Sydney’s Allphones Arena and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Earlier this month, Perth Arena had also hosted the 2015 Disney on Ice, Dare to Dream tour.
Currently touring Australia and New Zealand, Dare To Dream is a celebration of 75 years of Disney Princess stories featuring snippets of songs and moments from The Princess and the Frog, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella and Tangled.
At the Perth Arena the icy setting added an extra touch of wonder to these much-loved tales, presenting plenty of opportunity for neat tricks, funny tumbles and gliding, synchronised dances.
Hosted by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck, the crowd is taken on a journey back through the highlights of the lives of Tiana, Rapunzel, Cinderella and Snow White infused with extra dose of live magic.
The Perth Arena also hosted Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Sunday 14th June.
