PCYC Queensland Urges Community to Break Bad Habits

Police-Citizens Youth Clubs Queensland (PCYC) community role has been highlighted in recent weeks with several branches being used as emergency relief centres during the recent flood crisis.

At the same time, PCYC Queensland has launched a charity fundraising event designed specifically to reacquaint people with their willpower. The 'Break The Habit' challenge invites people to raise money for Queensland's aspiring young leaders and at risk youth, while simultaneously transforming themselves into the people they aspire to become.

For those wanting to fulfil New Year's resolutions: whether to get fit and healthy in time for beach season; give up smoking; or just spend less time on Facebook, the Break The Habit challenge is the perfect opportunity to become involved in bettering communities and individuals in a fun and supportive environment. Participants request sponsorship to partake in this month long, life-changing event from family, friends and work colleagues. They will then record their progress online, thus allowing their benefactors the opportunity to offer encouragement to them along their liberating personal journeys. All money raised will go directly towards assisting struggling young people within the local community to merge back into society as ambassadors of a brighter tomorrow. Raised funds from participants will stay in their area.

Sergeant Gary Penny, Fundraising & Marketing Manager of PCYC Queensland said "Break the Habit is a simple concept where everyone can get involved, young or old. It is a great program as everyone can get healthy while simultaneously doing something good for their community."

Eliza Paget, Director of Elite Retaining Systems said "at Elite Retaining Systems, we will be getting our whole team involved, we have a range of bad habits amongst us that I am excited to conquer for such a good cause! Giving back to the local community and adding our little bit to making a difference in a young personâs life is something that definitely pulls at the heart strings. These kids deserve the direction, encouragement and all the goodness that PCYC is putting back into their lives!"

PCYC Queensland is keen to stress in not Government funded. Instead, the organization relies on the generosity of businesses and individuals to get behind their campaigns and to give generously. The funds raised by this campaign will directly support PCYC's youth programs which help young people make positive decisions in their lives and to steer away from a life of crime. Funds raised by participants will stay in the area.
