Parks Forum highlights value of parks
The Australian and New Zealand Parks Forum has released a new publication, The Value of Parks that aims to provide the parks industry with collateral to assist in promotion of the broad benefits hat parks and open space provide.
Produced in partnership with the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (Australia & New Zealand Region) and The People & Parks Foundation, the publication aims to convey the value of parks for decision makers, opinion leaders and advocates in the parks industry and community.
Accordingly, it outlines the value and benefits of parks across the spectrum of social, economic, environmental and cultural considerations.
The Value of Parks publication recognises and celebrates the environmental, social, cultural and economic value of parks. It provides quantitative and qualitative evidence to raise the profile and status of parks as an essential component of society's wellbeing.
Incorporated in 2004, the Parks Forum represents agencies which have the management and stewardship responsibility for the full range of parks across the parks spectrum, from smaller urban parklands and forests, through to larger wilderness areas.
